Dr. Tonishia Whitlow, Principal
Dear Parents and Mt. Zion Elementary Family,
It brings me great joy and delight to be able to serve as Principal of Mt. Zion Elementary School. I have been an educator for 27 years and am a firm believer in life-long learning. Every day that our scholars come to school should be an experience as they ask, answer, analyze, synthesize, create, cultivate and deepen their understanding of skills and concepts. I am beyond excited to be a part of this educational experience with our scholars as they strive to operate in educational excellence. I can’t wait to see their learning unfold as we recalibrate and recommit ourselves for this new school year. Our theme for this year is, “Heal and Rebuild: Cultivating A Culture of Excellence.” Parents, your child’s education is a collaborative effort and we need your support. I encourage you to get involved and stay connected with your child’s teacher and our Mt. Zion family. We are here to support you. I am certain that with a strong commitment to academic achievement, we can and will take our scholars to the next level in their learning endeavors. As your Principal, I am completely committed each and every day to ensuring that our school is a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to rigorous learning and intentional instruction. The work that we do at Mt. Zion Elementary not only prepares our students to excel for the school year, we prepare them for life outside the walls of academia. Let’s continue to set high expectations for our scholars and reinforce those expectations at home and at school. I firmly believe in the old adage, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Parents, you are an integral part of our village and we want you to be fully immersed in your child’s education. I look forward to meeting and working with each of you this school year. Know that my door is always open to you. Let’s create a culture of excellence and prepare our scholars to ROAR with lion pride!
Warmest Regards,
Dr. Tonishia Whitlow
